Parenthood magazine malaysia was organized a meaningful talks the helps parents and parents-to-be themed "Beginner's Guide to Parenthood 2.0" at Sunway Medical Centre sponsored by Nippon Paint Malaysia. The workshop was held on 4th Nov 2018 Sunday. The workshop has attracted around 80 couples to join in order to know more about parenting.
The talks are given by the professionals and experts in each of the parenthood field. The fist topic is
"Understanding Your Baby’s Developmental Milestones" by Consultant Paediatrician, Dr. Cham Weng Tarng. He talked about the developmental milestones according to ages and stages together with ways to encourage a child’s physical and mental development. This is really helpful for parents that just have their first baby.
Dr Cham also talked about "Myth Vs Truth on Children & Ilnesses", which touched on vaccination, contagious diseases, indoor air quality as well as viruses and bacteria that you didn’t think would exist in your own cozy little home.
Next , it followed by Dr Amir Hamzah who is the President of the Malaysian Society of Allergy & Immunology (MSAI) talked about the "Indoor Wellness Program". This program is about air pollution, especially indoors, where many of us think we’re safe. He taught us what is Air Quality Index (AQI) and how we can keep the air in the good quality in order to protect our kids.
Another interesting topic was "Raising A Balanced & Successful Child In The 21st Century" by Ms Sam Jeng Mun a certified clinical psychologist who focused on the effects of screen time in children. Kids that below 2 years old should not expose to screen at all and the kids above 2 years old should only allow to face the screen not more then 1 hour a day. She also discusses the best way to tackle the touch screen generation and the importance of free-play in a child’s development. We should focus more on the physical and mental development through free-play activities.
The last topic was "How Colours Influence a Child's Developent" by Giadys Goh, group manager of Nippon Paint Malaysia. He talked about the tips to consider when decorating our kid's room such as maintaining healthy indoor air quality, using paints which are kid friendly and safe for kids, the importance of colour and it's impact on a child's growth development. Now, I may choose a paint that are safe for my kid's room.
It was a question and answer session at the end of each talk, a lot of parents are raising their hand to answer in order to win the cute little Blobby doll by Nippon Paint Malaysia. I would not able to win the doll due to too many parents are raising their hand and I was not pick to answer by the emcee.
At the end of the event, two lucky couples that posted most creative photo from the workshop on their instagram are selected to win the grand prize a free painting package worth RM1500 for their kid's room. Congratulation to all the winners!
I have learn a lot helpful tips and lessons to gain further insights and knowledge on caring better for my kids though this event. Thanks Parenthood magazine malaysia and Nippon Paint Malaysia for organizing such a great event and I hope there will be 3.0 for next year.
