CNY Spring of Blossom

Sunway Putra Mall with brilliant red cherry blossoms have sprung forth in the main atrium, signifying the start of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

In the spirit of the festive season, 30 children from Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) and 22 senior citizens from the Siri Jayanti Metta Care Centre and Persatuan Kebajikan dan Sosial Kim Loo Ting Nursing Homes, were invited to join the Lunar New Year launch at Sunway Putra Mall and were presented with goodie bags when they arrived at the event.

The launch was officiated by Mr. HC Chan, CEO of Sunway Shopping Mall and Theme Parks. Also present was Mr. Kevin Tan, COO of Sunway shopping Malls and Ms Phang Sau Lian, General Manager of Sunway Putra Mall.

To Mark the special occasion, Mr. Chan, Mr. Tan and Ms.Phang performed a special eye-dotting ceremony. Just as they were about to paint the eyes on the slumbering lions, the Monkey King and God of Fortune made a grand entrance and proceeded to accompany the VIPs as they dotted the eyes of the lion.

Moments after the lion’s eyes were dotted, the two mythical creatures came to life accompanied by the sound of thundering drums and proceeded to thrill the crowd. Mid way through the performance, one of the lions consumed a pomelo, a symbol of good luck, held by Mr.Chan, and presented a neatly peeled fruit in the shape of a flower moments after.

At the climax of the lion dance, the red scroll presented to Mr.Tan was unraveled revealing the auspicious message “Best of luck for the monkey year and wishing you prosperity every year” followed by the bursting of confetti and lighting of a fire fountain.

Following the magnificent lion dance performance, Mr.Chan and Ms. Phang proceeded to hand out angpaos and goodie bags, which were specially sponsored by Cold Storage and Bread story, to the children of YCK and senior citizens as a show of Sunway’s support for these institutions to brighten up their day.

The final performances of the day consisted of the traditional Chinese dance performance of the Long Sleeve and Silk Ribbon Dance before the attendees were usher to Selera Street food hall for a special Yee Sang tossing celebration.

The aptly named Selera street is the central food hub of Sunway Putra Mall offering mouth watering food sections that range from Boat Noodle, Teochew Chendol, SS2 Pisang Goreng and many others.

We are served with Yee Sang and buffet foods from Selera street. The foods consists of the popular foods from different races in Malaysia. You may want to give it a try. 

From now until 21st February 2016, shoppers will be enchanted by a completely red concourse where a majestic pagoda stands among the red cherry blossoms. Get acquainted with your New Year essentials at the spring Flower Market and Lunar New Year bazaar, happening at the Main Atrium, Ground Floor or browse through the various festive offering in the mall.

Apart from that, the mall has organized several performances and activities to entertain shoppers during the festive season. Shoppers can be thrilled by the amazing Northern Lion Dance and traditional Chinese dance performances and even try their hand at the flower arrangement workshop and take home their creation. Lucky shoppers may even get to meet the God of Fortune when walking around the mall and receive an angpao and mandarin oranges from him. A Gift for A Wish – Yayasan Chow Kit

I was invited by Seeties to attend Sunway Putra Mall’s ‘A Gift for A Wish – Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK)’ campaign. In conjunction with the festive holidays and in welcoming 2016, Sunway Putra Mall initiated this year-end campaign as a way to work together with the public to give back to the community. 

35 underprivileged kids, ranging from 7 to 12 years, were chosen for this campaign by YCK based on their backgrounds to have their wish for one gift to be fulfilled. The funds collection campaign spanned for one month, and with the contribution from the public, Sunway Putra Mall manage to not only purchase the desired gifts, but also the essential everyday items needed by YCK to take care of all the kids at their centre.

Surrounded by the remnants of Sunway Putra Mall’s festive decoration, the kids were greeted by goodie bags sponsored by Cold Storage, Kenny Rogers Roasters, The Chicken Rice shop and Dubuyu.

During the gift presentation, Sunway Putra Mall was accompanied by 60 beauty pageants of Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International which were specially bought in by TGV Cinemas to present the gifts to the 35 children.

This was as a platform to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange amongst the participating beauty queens. The beauty pageants took the opportunity to meet and entertain the children with special performances to the children’s delight before posing for some pictures.  The beauty pageants love children and they also want to take picture with my daughter. They are pretty and nice.

After the gift ceremony, the children together with the beauty pageants were the ushered to TGV Cinemas for a TGV-sponsored movie - Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie.

They are treated to dinner at the Al Amar Lebanese Cuisine Restaurant after the movie. 

The buffet dinner spread at the restaurant overwhelmed the children as most of them have never had the opportunity to try Lebanese cuisine before. Let’s see the foods served at Al Amar Lebanese Cuisine Restaurant .

The night ended on a high note as all the kids left with huge smiles on their faces and satisfied appetite as they each left with the gifts and a new memory that they can hold on to. I enjoy the night with them as well. Thanks Sunway Putra Mallfor the lovely gifts. Well done Sunway Putra Mall!

The Parenthood Malaysia’s 1st London Street Family Park

“The Parenthood” – Malaysia’s 1^st London Street Family Park is open to the public on 5^th December 2015. Looking for a place to go before or during Chinese New Year? You may consider paying a visit to “The Parenthood” at the 2^nd floor of Sunway Putra Mall.  It will be the ultimate venue to seek modern-day parenting amenities, services, products and enriching experiences for the whole family. The place is decorated with the Big Ben, the red London Bus, British flags, red post boxes, quaint shops nestled along yellow marked tar roads against the backdrop of English castle – indeed a refreshing reminisce of fabulous London.

When i reached there, i am given the wristband from "My Kingdom Playground" so that i can bring my daughter to play there later. Then follow by the corporate presentation from the CEO of “The Parenthood”, Mr. Leroy Lee. 

The Family Park caters to baby from new-born to 12 years old kids. My Kingdom playground offers treasure hunt games, flying fox, spider tower, transparent spiral slide, multiple slides, ball pit tunnels and play bridges. 

Look like my daughter really enjoying inside the My Kingdom playground until I need to call her to go out few times when the times to go back.

A wide range of enrichment classes are available, from academic to hobbies and sports, amenities such as a toddler area, 2 units of X-Box 360 and party rooms that can accommodate up to 40 children. Our refreshment are served in the party rooms.

There also provide baby or toddler room for changing diapers, milk preparation and family waiting room. Really warm to a mother like us always looking for place to settle our toddler.

We as a parent always complaining that no time to shop or enjoy service when we bringing our kids out. In “The Parenthood”, while children engage in various fun and educational activities for themselves, we can enjoy shopping or enjoy various pampering services like manicure, pedicure, massage, facial etc here.

Parent also can choose to relax and dine comfortable at the café which has 2 big TV screens opposite it capturing the playground area. Somemore there are variety of shops for your to shop for your baby, toddler or kids.
