World's First Angry Birds Inflatable Water World Debuts In Kuala Lumpur and Across Asia

Tuan Mohd Akbal Setia, Director of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB), on behalf of Datuk Musa B. Yusof, Director General of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) officiated the grand opening ceremony of the world’s first Angry Birds Splash Water World, a collaboration between Finland’s Rovio Entertainment Corp and Malaysia’s One Universal Production Sdn Bhd (OUP), in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of the Angry Birds at Setia Ecohill, Semenyih. The largest theme mobile inflatable water park in the world will be officially open to the Malaysian public on the 22nd November 2019 for 2 months before continuing its journey across Asia. The exciting newly expanded Angry Birds concept is a good and timely initiative for Malaysia as part and parcel of the Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign. Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Magendaran Marimuthu, Honorary Secretary of Malaysian Association of Amusement Themepark & Family Attractions (MAATFA).

Created in 2019 by Rovio Entertainment Corp, Angry Birds started as a popular mobile game and has since evolved from games to various entertainment and consumer products in brand licensing. Following on from the recent global release of The Angry Birds Movie 2, the Angry Birds Splash Water World will be a collection of big and small activities taking place under the sun at the wide-open space at Setia Ecohill Welcome Centre for two months during Malaysia’s School Holiday 2019.

Loveable characters in the franchise including Red, Chuck, Bomb, Terrence, Mighty Eagle and, of course, the lovely Hatchlings will be featured across the Angry Splash Water World. The highlights will be the inflatable Angry Birds water slides and obstacles featuring Red, Chuck, Bomb, Mighty Eagle and Terence. Among them is the tallest water slide standing at 12 meters in height and is sure to give visitors the thrill. Joining the huge inflatable slides, there will also be characters parade, characters meet-and-greet and non-scripted dance activities to entertain the crowd. Combined, we bring on the largest theme mobile water inflatables in the world to Malaysia. 
The Angry Birds Splash Water World will be running on specific dates for two months, starting from 22 November 2019 and ending on the day school resume, 5 January 2020. Only 1,500 tickets will be available to the public per day, to ensure smooth operation and a great experience for all.

KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star Variable Programme Returns For A Glitzier Second Season!


KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star variable school-holiday programme is back fora second season by popular demand, following stellar reception from the programme’s debut last year. Recently launched, the second season of the Be A Star programme promises to be bigger, better and more glamorous, with the aim of exposing young kids to the dynamic world of performing arts and entertainment through fun and engaging learning experiences.


Indeed, KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star programme is the ideal platform for young ones to shine and express their creative talents through specially curated activities and workshops, including the highly lauded STARZ Talent Contest, which will make a comeback with more alluring prizes such as a Canon iNSPiC C, Canon TS8270 Inkjet PIXMA, one year’s worth of TeaLive supply (52 cups) and also breakthrough prizes from TeaLive, a visit to BFM radio station, cash prizes from Fraser and Neave (F&N), hampers from SUU Balm and more.

Submission of entries for the STARZ Talent Contest will open from 16 to 30 November 2019. The four contest categories include Star Model, Star Singer, Star Presenter and Star Dancer. Aspiringyoung stars are encouraged to submit an audition video showcasing their talents in singing, dancing, acting or modelling. After which, three finalists from each category will be shortlisted to battle it out at the Final Stage on 28 December 2019.


KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star programme runs from 23 November to 3 January 2020 to coincide with the year-end school holidays. Apart from the talent contest, six main activities and six weekend workshops will be featured amidst a special activity exclusively for loyalty programme members and other establishment activities to take place within KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

Stream Over 9,000 Videos For Kids On Astro GO This School Holiday

During the school holidays, kids can discover and stream over 9,000 family-friendly and wholesome videos on Astro GO and On Demand, comprising telemovies, dramas, animation to live-action musicals and many more. In addition, kids can also enjoy Astro Ceria, Astro Xiao Tai Yang, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon in HD.


Kids can also catch over 50 exclusive programmes on Astro Ceria, Malay vernacular channels (Astro Ria, Astro Warna, and Astro Prima), international channels (HBO, Fox Movies, Disney, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Warner TV), Chinese vernacular channels (Astro Xiao Tai Yang) and Indian vernacular channels (Astro Vaanavil and Astro Vellithirai) from 23rd November onwards.


Among the premiering titles will be Astro Originals ‘SMK’ and ‘Hello Pinkfong’. Premiering on 23rd November, this latest co-production between Astro and SmartStudy will feature an entirely Malaysian cast, with more than 40 popular Pinkfong songs that will be rearranged and presented with different dance sets choreographed specially for the series available on Astro Ceria, Astro Xiao Tai Yang, Astro Vaanavil, Astro Vinmeen, Astro TVIQ and Hello. During the school holidays ‘Didi & Friends’, Malaysia’s number 1 pre-school brand, and music and faith-inspired animation, ‘Omar & Hana’, will be back with fresh content to entertain the kids. Now in its fourth season, the latest track from ‘Didi & Friends’ titled ‘Mengantuknya Mumia’ (‘The Sleepy Mummy’) recently garnered over 3 million views only a week after its launch. Millennial’s Guide to Parenthood Workshop 2019


In an effort to educate and help millennial parents in their journey of parenting, Parenthood in collaboration with Nippon Paint Malaysia and Sunway Medical Centre organized the Millennial’s Guide to Parenthood workshop that highlighted various hot topics relevant to today’s parents with young children.




The first topic talked about How to Manage The 5 Most Common Children’s Illnesses- the Common Cold, Hands Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD), Influenza, Diarrhea and Dengue. Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Cham Weng Tang who delivered the talk went in depth about the cause and effect of each of the 5 illnesses, which are common yet preventable. He also highlighted how our walls (which are often overlooked) can be a medium of transmission of viruses and bacteria. Now I have a better knowledge about these 5 common illnesses, so I know what to do when my children are infected.


I believe a lot of parent are facing problem when feeding their child, it will be hard for the parent to ask the kids to eat certain foods. The next topic is talked about How to Handle Picky Eaters and What Parents Can Do by dietician Celeste Lau. Parents were given tips on how to differentiate a picky eater versus a problem eater. She also shared how to handle picky eaters and how parents can introduce a wider variety of food selection in order for their child to thrive and grow. I would happy to practises the tips to encourage my kids to eat more variety of foods after listening the talk by her.




Dato’ Dr Rajbans Singh, President of Malaysian Wellness Society, spoke on the topic of Indoor Air Wellness. He highlighted how indoor air pollution can be 2 to 5 times worse than outdoors. With harmful pollutants all over the home, and in places one would never have thought off, he mentioned that this could affect a child’s health in the long term. Besides that, Dato’ Dr. Rajbans also shared some steps on how parents can take positive steps to improve indoor wellness, starting from home.



We as a parent, always have to learn how to be a better parent in the journey of parenthood. We need to learn how to communicate with the child and know how we are affecting them. Parents are the role models for the kids. Another hot topic among the parents was How to Bring Out The Best Potential in Your Child by Ms. Sam Jeng Mun who is a clinical psychologist. Parents took some time to take an assessment that determined their type of parenting style. From this assessment, parents were given a better understanding about their own personality. Ms. Sam also elaborated on the 4 types of parenting styles and how the particular style may affect their child mentally.



Aside from the talks by experts, the event also hosted close to 200 nominees from the Nippon Paint Wellness Colouring Contest. The Nippon Paint Wellness Colouring Contest is part of an initiative by Nippon Paint Malaysia to educate pre-school children on the importance of wellness and staying healthy. There were about 6,500 student from 56 school around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor that participated in the colouring contest.


After much anticipation, the winners were announced towards the end of the Millennial’s Guide to Parenthood workshop. For the 3 to 4-years-old category, Lee Hui Yue from Taska Precious Step took home the grand prize, while Natalie Goh Xin Ning from Beaconhouse Subang emerged as winner for the 5 to 6-years-old category.

BJC Launches new TASTO Potato Chips and DOZO Rice Crackers in Malaysia

BJC Foods (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Halloween Treats and Thrills at the Curve and eCurve

In celebration of the spookiest time of the year, the Curve and eCurve entertained patrons with a thrilling yet fun experience at both malls during Halloween. Both malls were decked out in cute Halloween decorations complete with grinning jack-o-lanterns and skeletons sprawled against gnarled trees which greeted visitors as they entered the premises. Adding on to the mysterious ambiance were creepy crawlies and bats dangling on the tree branches, which made for a fantastic time for all!


As an added treat for kids, the Curve and eCurve also hosted a trick-or-treating session, where a group of 70 children dressed up in their wackiest and most creative costumes to go around selected tenants to receive candies, gifts and various other goodies. My kids were very happy to join the Halloween parade and they are having fun to get so many candies and gifts they like.

CARiNG’s “Live Well with Diabetes” Public Forum

To commemorate World Diabetes Day 2019, CARiNG, together with Nestlè Health Science, proudly presented the inaugural “Live Well with Diabetes” Public Forum. According to Ministry of Health, some 3.6 million Malaysians are suffering from diabetes, which is the highest rate of incidence in Asia, and one of the highest in the world. As a leading pharmacy chain in Malaysia, CARiNG plays an active part in raising awareness on diabetes, and provides value added services to patients living with diabetes.


The "Live Well with Diabetes" Public Forum was officiated by CARiNG Pharmacy Managing Director, Mr Chong Yeow Siang, and Ms Maria Rica Mier, Cluster Business Executive Officer of Nestlé Health Science. The forum was part of CARiNG's various diabetes public outreach programmes which include the "You Can Live Well with Diabetes" book and Diabetes Corner, which were both launched in November last year.


Amongst the highlight of the forum was The Glucocare Challenge and certificate presentation to participants who took part in the three-month challenge comprising patient counselling, regular blood sugar level monitoring and a specially crafted meal plan that adopted Nestle Health Science’s NUTREN® Untuk Diabetik.


“Diabetes is a condition at the forefront of our organisation’s focus, and we are proud that the ‘Live Well with Diabetes’ forum, is one of CARiNG Pharmacy’s many public outreach programmes to help raise awareness of the condition. We are delighted to partner with Nestlé Health Science, and take the opportunity to share the positive results yielded from our Glucocare Challenge collaboration. The challenge demonstrated positive change for those who took part and truly supported the participants to take charge of their health,” CARiNG Pharmacy Managing Director Mr Chong Yeow Siang commented on the success of the challenge.


Attendees of the "Live Well with Diabetes" Public Forum were presented with an opportunity to understand and learn about the role of nutrition in the management of diabetes through special educational stations placed throughout the hall. Each station housed a specific theme to educate participants on their diet, nutrition, and exercise.



Healthcare experts from Becton Dickinson Sdn. Bhd., Duopharma Biotech Berhad and Bionime Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. were invited to give a talk on myths and misconceptions of dealing with diabetes and insulin, insulin injection techniques and diabetes e-health ecosystem. Nestlé Health Science's dietitian Ms Rachel Liu also shared on how we can find the perfect balance by introducing meal replacements as part of our daily meal planning. She later delivered a compelling presentation on the importance of creating a balanced food plan with the inclusion of a diabetic specific formula suitable for those with diabetes.



This year, CARiNG is also introducing a new pharmacy service for the community – CARiNG Diabetes Management System (DMS). DMS is a virtual platform that links pharmacists and patients to monitor blood sugar level readings by reducing travelling time, data transfer errors, and improve blood sugar management efficiency.
